As I promised a few days ago I’d publish a whole set of pictures from the So Long Sisters show held last Sunday in Kristiinankaupunki at Night Bird. And well, here you go people, the whole shebang!

..If and when you are browsing through all of the shots, keep in mind the following. I went from Waasa to Kristiinankaupunki around 6pm so I’d reach the showroom at 7pm, although the concert was about to start way past midnight. I did this so that I could give you a small insight into how it all went down..

So the shots are divided into the following parts: Soundcheck, dinner, make-up and recreation at the Dahlgren residence  and last but not least, the rock show.. So enjoy these shots and hit the heart if you liked any..

Some two days ago, or so, I went to shoot a So Long Sisters gig in Christine’s City (Kristiinankaupunki). This insert is a small preview of what’s to come in a very near future when I’ll post the whole set of shots collected from this very night. What might give your lovely eyes some joy is that I took the time to shoot some video material again, so here we go, a few shots and some video blogging…!

The gig was great. The sisters of rock really showed the audience what “Kristiina Rock City” is all about. The place was jam packed with rock enthusiasts and partying people from the southern parts of Ostrobothina. Hopefully this quick preview with a few goodies can display a tad of rocking knowledge to you, my fine reader. Great show, great girls!

I should probably mention that this was maybe the fifteenth time I’ve seen these girls rock a crowd. And never has Karijoki, from where these girls has risen, looked so rock n’ roll. I predict a great future for the Sisters. I’ve also been tryin’ to put together a documentary about So Long Sisters for some time now, and hopefully I’ll get it done soon enough..

Well, this is shot during the sound check at Night Bird, the song their playing/covering is called “Take my hand”, a song made famous by the very cool band called Simple Plan. Sorry for the harsh audio quality, I’ll get a proper microphone for the camera soon enough, stop complaining..

And yo people, I’ve saved the best one for last.. This is a dude everybody should get the chance to meet. He is called Göran Dahlgren, he is the father to Janica and Sofia.. Göran is also kinda managing the band, roading for the band and yes, he is kinda involved in everything concerning the girls – a smashing cool man! Call him.. Göran is probably the biggest rocker north of Tampere..

I haven’t been photographing these girls since last December when we took their latest promotional shots. But tonight I’m definitely gonna make things happen with the 5D Mark Tage. I’ll join the girls hours before the gig, shooting all kinds of pics and video for my video blog.. You’ll get it all, weather you like it or not!

And since things are going so well for the ladies at the moment I think, and I know, that the show is gonna be, that’s right, awesome! The girls are currenly in the YleX kellarivideoraati semi-finals and one of the most popular bands at the YleX kellari.. Nice!

Well now, I could really need your help on this one. To make a short story long or whatever.. Last summer me and Ramedus made our first music video for a band called So Long Sisters from Karijoki to their song Behind Empty Eyes. The video was selected winner of the Garage Countdown competition arrange by the Voice late last year, that was a “by the way” fact..

Anyway, we sent the video to some other competitions as well.. And today I got the fabulous news that the video is one out of four semi-finalists at the Yle X kellarivideoraati competition, and we would really like to go through to the finals.. Everyone has a chance to vote for the video right about now, you have three weeks to do it at the following site..

Yle X is a Finnish radio station by the way, and if you hit the show-link you will be able to watch their tv-show where they present the semi-finalists with feedback. The video and the band is “judged” by the popstar Maija Vilkkumaa and the well known Finnish rock act called Apulanta..

I just saw the show and it was awesome for me to observe their professional sayings about the song and the video, you should check it out.. And people, the only thing you have to do is to write down your name and your e-mail and hit the “lähetä”-button, and I will thank you from the bottom of my heart!

If the video wins this competition, well first off I’ll be major-time happy, and the band will get some studio time at one of the Yle studios.. And yes, the directors will be gettin’ an “Yle X package”.. So that’s nice, probably a baseball cap with the Yle X logo and some candy! Who knows..? But seriously though, the girls deserve to win!

I would be ever so thankful and I would really appreciate it if you took the time to vote for So Long Sisters right about now! Thank you! ..And hopefully the video will go through to the finals arranged in May 2010..

I possess an old 70’s camera called Yashica FX-D, every once in a while I grab a hold of it and shoot some old school shots.. Only a few days ago I found the camera stuffed in the closet, had not seen it for months, and then I suddenly remembered that it was a black & white film in it almost fully framed.. So I snapped a few shots just to get it filled and I went to collect the shots from the film developers office..

When I got the pics yesterday I was quite surprised, some of those pics had been taken over a year ago and I thought I’d share the best shots from the roll with you guys.. And the thing with 70’s cameras and especially with my Yashica is that no matter what you point the lens at will look cool.. Doesn’t matter if it’s correctly exposed, sharp or even bright enough, everything just looks very vintage and cool.. And yes, this is not an opinion, it’s the truth!

And apparently I have been carrying around the Yashica at some promotional shoots last spring.. The next shot I kinda remember, it was during the Werna promo shoot in May 2009 somewhere outside Helsinki. I really love this one, in fact, I liked it so much I sent it to the band encouraging them to start using it at their myspace.. Check it out..

And the last shot is taken when I was assisting Matias Nystedt at an Absolut Vodka commercial shoot.. A school assignment if I remember it right.. Matias is also they guy who did the design for my web site…

I have now finished the editing of the So Long Sisters pictures which I blew out of this world last Sunday. In this post I’ll publish the ones worth showing to someone, and naturally I’ll post the shots in my “photography” folder also. So here goes nothing – Tage presents to the “world” (phew) the new promotional shots of the Karijoki-based punk-pop-rock band called So Long Sisters!

I really like the location of these shots, so at least I’ll give myself a sitting ovation and a few feeble golf applause for managing to use the location for something helpful, at least in Karijoki. If something has to bug me it’ll be some of the elbows in this one, didn’t see that until I got home that day. Everything needs guidance, and not just everyone but everything. But this I know to the next shoot – watch out for the elbows.. Hah. Sounds like the title of a very hefty flick. But all in all I like the first shot pretty much!

And yes, the second one is shot with a 70-200 2.8 lens, and what can this dude say about that.. Huh? Nothing really. This shot is kinda good, but I like the first one a lot more, but maybe that has to do with the “graphics” or how should I put it. This one is all in all quite good in my opinion. Should have pushed the editing in a brighter way though, but what’s done is done, or sometimes you’ll have to undo it.. CTRL+Z everyone! Hella cool!

And then of course the individual shots. And in beforehand I’ll apologize to you guys for the resolution – I kinda fucked things up, but It’ll take too long to undo things, time of which I at the moment don’t have enough of – gotta examine my Playstation 3 or whatever..

I love working with these girls, they are easy to shoot and they have some great tunes that hopefully will blow out some speakers in your car in a somewhat near future. Today was a big day for my education and for my running to become America’s next top model. No wait. Yes hold on. It was a fun day for me. I got up before the sun on Finland’s independence day to go and take  some promotional pics of the very awesome group called So Long Sisters.

We had hired a place in Vaskiluoto Vaasa, in an old shutdown sugar factory. I’ve been there before a few times with the Sturm und Drang boys, so I knew what I was getting myself into. In this shit hole we were going to take this years best promos, and maybe we did, I don’t know since I haven’t started working on the pics yet, but at least they will be cool sugary lookin’. Hopefully they will please the band, then I’m satisfied.

This fine morning I had two assistants there to help me with the shoot, that sounds nice yes? Actually it was the bands’ both drivers, a couple of fathers, not gay fathers, but fathers to different members of the band from different families, do I need to explain myself more? Yes. Oh c’mon.

One of the guys is called Görtzi Dahlgren, he is the faazha of two of the girls in the band, the other one is called Jouni, and he is also the father of two of the other girls, of which there are five. So one of the girls left her father at home, or was it the father of the last girl who left out his daughter for my photography? Did you get it this time? No – still not going through. I won’t say it again. Jesus.

So both Göran Dahlgren and Jouni Alavilamo helped me out with the shoot, the brought all kinds of real worker-dude lights, those 5€ lamps from Claes Ohlsson, and if you posses a gigantic amount of those, you can’t fail in life, and that’s just the truth. We only had 3 hours to get everything fixed so I’m really thankful for the dadz assisting me in the shoot! Thanks Karijoki!

Hopefully I’ll be ready with the editing in a few days and I’ll be able to post the shots in another one of these blog inserts in a couple of days. That’ll be something to look forward to, but who am I kiddin’, ah shit. At least I look forward to see the result of today, ok!

Well then, what did the master of disaster do the rest of this spectacular Sunday of a bitch. I traveled to Vanha Vaasa to take some quickies of a puppy dog (some 9 months old) called Ellen. Not gonna speak much about this shoot, but I’ll höja mitt varningens finger to all you dog photographers in the amateur class such as myself. The dogs aren’t as easy as cats to take shots of, at least not Ellen. She couldn’t keep still for 2 seconds. I tried talking to her, but nooo, she just wanted to goof around even more. Here is an example..

So, why do I take so much pics of cats, dogs and dvd-covers? I don’t know – you’ll have to ask someone else ok. I think this was it for me this Sunday night. I’ll head back to Helsinki tomorrow, and hopefully there is a lot of dudes and gals wanting pics over there, during the coming weeks. One can always hope. Otherwise you 7 people who read this crap will have to look at pics of my yard, pics of some snow or pics of hairy asses. Pray for clients.

//Lé Tage – the sophisticated letter-enderer?

It is a fine saturday as I sit my ass down in front of this man-made keyboard. Ever think about that? Probably not. So what are this afternoon’s big subject. Sounds like whatever.

Yes. Tomorrow I’m going to take promotionals of the awesome punk-rock-girl-gang called So Long Sisters. This is the third time for me taking promos of these girls. Why? I hear the deaf asking. Because one of their six members has left the band, so they obviously need new shots. And this time, I tell you and I promise you, maybe I shouldn’t promise anything, but what the jack, I promise you that these pics are going to rock the world, at least my world, and hopefully some eager SLS (trendy abbreviation for the band) fan in Kankaanpää.

And why is there some Christmasy shots in this insert. Well, I didn’t wanna post just text, so I took som promotionals of Santa, and let me tell you, they’re gonna be huge in Rovaniemi. Probably get some calls from Kemin Prisma about doing some ad-campain on Satan’s little helpers, or was it Santa..? But anyway, I’m gonna decline.

Right back to SO LONG SISTERS (forget the caps lock again), or was it a cheap ass promotion trick? They have had a cool autumn. They’ve recorded 3 new songs and in general they have had some good shows. During the past weeks they have managed to get their song Perfect Disaster played on YleX, thanks to the Kellari mechanism…

I blogged earlier about mine & Rasmus Tåg’s video for So Long Sisters to their song Behind Empty Eyes. That we had entered a competition called Garage Countdown with our video. Well, now this weeks’ competition is over and we WON. Hallelujah!

And the prize? Well, the video is being shown at the finnish music channel called The Voice this saturday at 16.30 PM. Now these are great news, so great that a webmagazine known as www.peppar.fi called me up today and wanted me to answer some questions about the overall feeling and the competition!

Happy time! Yes it is!

Now these are the news that I have waiting to publish, and I couldn’t do it before the thing was hanging in the windows!

Some of my pics of the awesome band So Long Sisters has now become an exhibition at a make-up/hairdresser’s house in Vaasa called Artistica. Why? (you seemed to ask), let me explain. Back in May 2009 Stefan from Artistica called me up and told me that this autumn a new shampoo is premiering, a product called Rock-a-holic. He wanted his 6 windows in the beauty salon to be filled with rock pics! Hell yes, I responded. It’s a collection of 18 different pics puzzled together to look like 6 band memebers in 6 different windows! And since there are 6 girls in So Long Sisters, it fit like a glove!

The shots are taken at two different gigs during the summer of 2009, one in Seinäjoki (Rytmikorjaamo) and one in Kristiinankaupunki (Hotel Kristina). I have revealed this info to very few people and it’s really funny now that the pics are hangin’ in the windows.
