May 2012 bring you guys awesomeness, cooldom and happiness! I thought I’d start out this year by publishing some new promotional shots I took some weeks back.

Yes, I got a call from the singer-songwriter Jonathan Isaksson who is coming out with his debut album quite soon, he wanted me to do some shots of him for the album. Naturally I said yes, and here you go, a few samples of the result, all of these are taken in Suomen Turku. Enjoy.

A few days ago I went to Suomen Turku to grab a bunch of promotional shots of Jerry Lindqvist and his touring band called The Grace, hence the expression Jerry Lindqvist & The Grace, yes.

// Tage – Tage hates Silence

It is not that often that one man gets to do two different promotional shoots on the same day. This post holds two quick snaps from both of these shoots, I am later to return with a full batch for ya’ll, but for now you’ll have to settle with one snap from each shoot. Or as the great Zach de la Rocha once put it, inverted and twisted ofcourse. We’ll settle for nothing now, and we’ll settle for more Tage later. You follow? Hectic and awesome.

So, the first couple of fellas I portrayed this Tuesday was Anders Helenius and Samppe Karlsson. Promotional shots for an upcoming radio show.

The second pair of lads in front of my lens this day was the great artists Jerry Lindqvist and Paul Oxley, we headed out to the dark forests of Noux to snap these frames – lovely. A bunch of promotional shots for an upcoming single these guys put together – definitely something to wait for, I got to listen to this track today and their co-operation sounds really good. Keep a lookout.

// Tage – long day

A few weeks ago I was contacted by the lovable guys in Reversion, a progressive alternative heavy metal group from Helsinki. Very soon they are releasing their second album, and I got to be a part of the visual settings – got to smack away some new promos of the dudes.

So, yesterday we had our shoot in down town Helsinki, and here you go, a couple of examples from the showdown – slideshow!

If everything goes well I will be working on some projects with these fellas in the future also, but more on those rumours later on, if things fall into the right place, just have to make some organized fuzz while I’m waiting for the reversion to become progression… See what I did there? Anyway, this particular shooting day was of great nature and I hope that you’ll find joy in these frames.

Yesterday I hung out in Suomen Turku for a whole day of shooting different stuff for different clients from different homes in different cities. This was all loads of fun, but at the end of the day before my journey to Hellsinky I grabbed Nightmare Enemy by the balls and went out to the heavy wilderness of hell to collect some promotional frames of the rockers..

And this is how the shoot turned out – I’ll give you two different settings. Hope you dig..!

Anyway, I hung out at Radio X3M in Waasa earlier this week shooting some promotional stuff for a radio show called Veckoslutskommittéen. You know, pictures they use at the Radio stations website to promote their show and stuff. I’m kinda in the editing stage of these shots but I thought I’d share three of the finished shots with you since I don’t jave anything else to yell about for the moment. The posers are 2 outta 5 hosts for the show, these are Ted Urho and Elin von Wright!

I fired away quite a lot of shots this fine afternoon at YLE in Waasa where the radio station is located. Sara Dahlback did the make up part and I framed the frames. And as always folks, it ain’t easy shooting stuff that is supposed to have a totally white background, well, the shooting part is quite easily handled, but the editing takes up heavy time. At first I tried to get a good looking feel by cutting out the figures and then just replacing the background, but fingers, hair and even eyebrows makes it quite difficult..

So, the technique I tried out for these shots is entirely done with the dodge tool. Like, dodging away everything that is not desired in the shot, but that doesn’t make it that much easier, but the shot get a better feel to themselves.. Hope you enjoy these shots. And yes, I used my portable studio flash kit to get these ones, it works quite well as long as there aren’t more than 3-4 people in the frame…

Let me present to you a couple of new promo shots. This time the band in front of my lens is called Walkalone. I have previously shot these guys live some time ago, but never under “controlled” circumstances. Enjoy it ladies and ladies.

I’ve mentioned this shoot several times before, something about a perfume and whatever I said.. Well here it is. Analyze it – if you please..

The shoot took us about 3 hours and then I spent many hours in the editing box mixing the show together. Hope you like it. I believe it is one of the best promo shots I’ve ever shot, I’m really satisfied with the one above – and that sort of phenomena doesn’t occur that often.

None of the shots taken this fine evening has been edited, barely even browsed through, so I won’t be sharing anything tonight except for this video. The band thought that Jussi, the front guy, needed some hair styling.. And he actually shaved his head for this shoot, so I really hope that the pictures will turn out great.. I can feel the pressure rising in me, cause I have yet some demanding picture editing to do before I can present to you the new Walkalone promotional shots. The man giving us a brief interview in the video is K.O, the drummer of Walkalone, and behind him you can spot Janne – the bass player!

So, the best you can do is to keep your fingers crossed and check back to my domain every once in a while, and you will very soon see what became of the shaved head and our somewhat creative perfume commercial idea for this shoot.
