Anyway, I hung out at Radio X3M in Waasa earlier this week shooting some promotional stuff for a radio show called Veckoslutskommittéen. You know, pictures they use at the Radio stations website to promote their show and stuff. I’m kinda in the editing stage of these shots but I thought I’d share three of the finished shots with you since I don’t jave anything else to yell about for the moment. The posers are 2 outta 5 hosts for the show, these are Ted Urho and Elin von Wright!

I fired away quite a lot of shots this fine afternoon at YLE in Waasa where the radio station is located. Sara Dahlback did the make up part and I framed the frames. And as always folks, it ain’t easy shooting stuff that is supposed to have a totally white background, well, the shooting part is quite easily handled, but the editing takes up heavy time. At first I tried to get a good looking feel by cutting out the figures and then just replacing the background, but fingers, hair and even eyebrows makes it quite difficult..

So, the technique I tried out for these shots is entirely done with the dodge tool. Like, dodging away everything that is not desired in the shot, but that doesn’t make it that much easier, but the shot get a better feel to themselves.. Hope you enjoy these shots. And yes, I used my portable studio flash kit to get these ones, it works quite well as long as there aren’t more than 3-4 people in the frame…

The new year is approaching and I wish all my readers and watchers and googlers a very happy new year, and I mean it. Thanks for all of your support during the past year, and a big hand goes out to all my co-workers and all my viewers.. Thank you Thank you Thank you!

I really hope that the new year is gonna bring me lots of new stuff to deal with, and hopefully some fun times and good opportunities. I also keep my fingers crossed for me and my co-workers to evolve in this media business during 2010! And perhaps the new year is going to point out for me what my destiny is (but that’s a lot to ask for I guess), since my school-going now is kinda finito..

I have some cool upcoming projects in my to-do list though, so there will surely be stuff to report on everyday, but if there is nothing to report on – I’ll do as I always do, write some bullshitty trashtalk with no substance or content whatsoever.. But during the upcoming days I look forward to a lot of stuff, for instance tomorrow, my brother is getting married , and on this Saturday the new YLE-show called Make Up premiers ( I’ve been working as the cinematographer for the intro part ), and on the 5th of January mine and R.Tåg’s latest music video premiers on youtube.. So at least I have stuff to report on during the upcoming days..

Where to put those fangs, the fangs of wisdom, to the blog of wisdom.. What I’m trying to say is – whatever.

Today it was yet another one of those Thursdays, and stuff happened and naturally there is also then stuff to write about, stuff worth mentioning, hell, I don’t know if it’s worth mentioning.. But I like the feeling of being able to change the looks of my fronty (a nickname I came up with for the word front page). So, fronty me, fronty you, fronty fuck you. I have now finished the editing of lots of pics which I took for Radio X3M in Vaasa. X3M is a swedish speaking finnish radio channel by swedish speaking finns for the swedish speaking finns, or was it the other way around? But ofcourse, everyone can listen to it…

I was assigned to take new pics of the dudes handling the web part of the channel. And that was funny. And then I also took some shots for their kama sutra-thing-christmas-calendar.. You know, the one with 24 hatches (sorry, the best word I could come up with for “lucka”) counting down the days to the birth of our friend J.

You can check out the radio channel at ( http://x3m.yle.fi ). My shots are to be used somewhere in that jungle, and that’s a cool thing. I recommend you to check out the kama sutra thingy, it’s funny, you’ll find it on their fronty (see what I did there?). Inside my head there’s a radio station.. (Far-fetched Anna Abreu Donkey-Bridge, don’t even ask). And what the hey is a Donkey-Bridge? It’s an Åsnebrygga ofcourse.

So, what’s the second thing I’d like to mention this somewhat tiresome evening. Oh yes. The Yle2 show called Make Up, some other news from that cabin. Yesterday I went to shoot some more stuff for the intro to that show. I think and hope that the intro is going to be awesome, it has to be, I’ve spent 4 nights in the city center of  Helsinki collecting video and stills, and the editor will do a very good job with it.. I hope and I think. But hey, the editor is from Sweden, and they are very good in the media sector, so he has to be good. So here you go – a few smakprov. I don’t know how to translate smakprov to ironic English – previews perhaps..

Oh yes, how could one forget.. I took some promo pics of the media mogul Rasmus Tåg today. He needed some fresh shots of himself to send to Vasabladet ( the local paper in Vaasa ), they are doing a small piece on him since the Thoby Loth (http://www.thobyloth.com) DVD is coming out now in December, and it’s even being televized on Yle FST5 the 17th of December. Rasmus and his company Ramedus have together with the band planned and executed a concert DVD. The show was held over a year ago and now the DVD is coming. Pretty exciting. I have even participated myself, on the cover for the DVD you’ll find 4 of my Thoby Loth shots from that very gig. And the cover looks really nice, obviously.

So where was I? Yes. Fuck yes. We took some shots of Ramedus today for the newspaper and this is how it came out…

And then I of course took the liberty of asking the Rammer if he’d be kind enough to take a shot of me in the same posé and site.. It came out exactly the same, or at least, almost exactly the same. Have a peek…

There is also a rumour that I have a picture of a white metal band printed in today’s issue of HBL (Hufvudstadsbladet), haven’t seen the thing today – so we’ll never know? I have been waiting for this day for some time now. The release of these pics.

Tomorrow there will be a news conference held somewhere in Helsinki, revealing the cool fact of whom is going to be the three hosts of the new entertainment show called Make Up. The show will run every Saturday on Yle 2 in Finland from the beginning of January. It’s a talk-show, game-show, fun-show, whatever-show that hopefully will gain lots of viewers, I think it’s gonna run for 22 weeks, at least.

I was invited to take the press shots of the hosts about a month ago, and I really wanted to publish the shots right away, but I was not allowed, not until this night. So, great news, I’m the first to report on this matter, whoo-fucking-hoo. I’m the first to reveal to you who the hosts are. See it all on www.TageRonnqvist.com (drink smacky cola, way-out-there South Park reference, whatever dude). I don’t care if you didn’t get that one, at least I laughed, and that’s the main thing.

These guys are three of Finland’s most known dudes in the TV-industry. And hopefully these are the pics that will be printed in the news papers, or at least in some local news paper in Jurva on the back of the mag, with the recipents address printed right on my shot. Hopefully somewhere, alright.

The new blogmodel with the pics on top turned out to be the flop of the century, Thias Newspeed was all wrong about the readers, I have one reader that I know of, and she thought that the journalistic Sandwich-model was way cooler than the crappy “all pics on top” model.

So just to be different I will now use the “no-pics-version”. So if you are not interested in what I’m writing you might as well stop reading now. And for whatever reason I will blog about something really not-read-kind-stuff, just to make things even more No-Picturesque. Know what I mean? Probably not.

Hello to zero readers, it’s spectacular to write a blog that now has zero readers. Haha, I sure need pics to make it interesting, but since I had to leave for Vaasa today very suddenly, I didn’t have the time to bring any pics of the last Helsinki by night day, nor any new pics of my new Memory Card! Yay! I finally bought another one. Extreme IV Compact Flash 8GB.

During the last day of taping the intro I blasted away about 16 tons of software ( C the BWO reference? ) thought so, stupid. Unfortunately I won’t be able to post any pics from the last day of shooting since the last day was all about shooting the hosts of the show, and who the hosts are is a big secret until the 25th of november. So no go. But on the 25th I’ll post a lot of cool shots from behind the rehersals of Make Up.

What else is new. Oh yes, almost forgot, and this is a long and disturbing fuck all story.

I finnished editing the shortfilm I made at the hospital, and then ofcourse comes the small major-time problem of getting the film to a simple DVD. Everyone thinks getting stuff to DVD from Avid (video editing program) is a very very simple thing, but there is no “burn to DVD” button in the software. And there is about 6 million ways to get the finished product to your desktop as a playable file, so after 3 hours of swearing I had the 9minute piece as a wmv-file on my desktop, and then the problems started raining in. Can anyone by the way arrange a course on how to make things right? This is my step-by-step (not the Take That song) journal to epic fail.

1. Tried burning the file to DVD with the  fucked up DVD program called Cyberlink DVD solution. Did not work, the movie worked but some of the pics moved very slow. (Bilden hacka)  Had to try another way.

2. Tried exporting the film from avid with different measures and sizes and even some different bitrates, hours went by and I finally had a version that was ready and working. Tried burning it again with Cyberlink, did not work. Cyberlink told me that “there aren’t any whatever points in this media” or some shit… I went mad. Then I had a small breakthrough. Yes.

3. Googled around for another DVD burning program and I found this thing called DVD-flick (http://www.dvdflick.net/), it’s free and it works! Awesome software, it really has it all, at least for a dude who is used to Cyberlink’s fucked up program. So I burned the film to DVD with the new software and threw it in the DVD-player, and guess fucking what, it had the wrong aspect ratio, it was 4:3 when I wanted it to be 16:9. I went even more mad. So mad that my friend Mad Mike went Easy-going.

4. Hours and hours went by. Got the file exported again from AVID, and this time as FULL HD widescreen 16:9, finally. The file was working fine and I tried burning it, and after these hours of the system testing me I thought that I would finally have a break, but nooo, fuck no. Threw the godforsken thing in the dvd player and whaddayouknow, the sound wasn’t entirely in sync! The fucking sound. And this time I was too pissed off and the clock had turned almost 4 a.m in the morning, so I settled with this version. I cried myself to sleep.

5. Tonight I showed the movie to the guys involved and I really felt like shit, after all this work and I couldn’t get it fucking right. But then I suddenly understood why this happens – cause shit fucking happens, but really, now I know what the problem is.

6. My camera films with 29,97FPS (the american way), and when I try to watch that in a european TV which displays things in 25FPS (frames per second) I’m in alot of trouble, well not alot, but some troubles indeed. Should have understood this earlier and tried to convert the material to 25FPS from the original 29,97, but I don’t know how to complete that so fuck all. And and and, the files and the film is working allright when you watch it in a computer screen, since that one shows you things in something between 30-60FPS, to my knowledge.. Don’t correct me if I’m wrong.

So, horror all over. But at least I learned alot of new stuff. And although I’ve put hundreds of things to DVD earlier in life, the problems are always fucking different, why isin’t there a simple button or explanation on how to make thing right, like there are with women?  If anyone have some bright ideas to solving problems like these, give me a ring. And the really good thing is that Canon is releasing new firmware for my 5D Mark Tage in the beginning of 2010, making it possible to film stuff in 24FPS and 25FPS, so then all my problems will be solved, or at least this problem, but then there are 5.999.999 problems left.

But hey, I’ve got 99 problems but the bitch ain’t one. Peace out fuckers.

Why have I placed all the shots on top of my blog sandwich? Why? I’ll fucking tell you why. Cause my web mentor Thias Newspeed told me that readers like this kind of layout when they are reading blogs. I don’t know where he got it from, but is he right or is he a big sack of shit? You tell me.

Tonight was my second night making the intro for the upcoming show called Make Up, I hung around the corners of the city and once again blasted away 8GB of footage, now I seriously need a new memory card.

It started raining this evening and I felt pissed off, but it stopped, not my piss, but God’s pissing all over us, that stopped. What? My main goal today was to capture some tram material and some serious hight pics from Ravintola Torni. Two of the shots I’ve posted here are taken from Torni, where I also helped myself to a Glögi, the high point of the city, sadly it poured cats and lions during the shoot. One of the lions was vividly trying to tell me something, but I didn’t catch what he was trying to say, or was it a dog? I’m such an ass.

The third pic is the meal I got from my beloved mother for being such a good sport. I ate the candy “på ett huj” (in a huy, I don’t know). The first one was a “perus choko från Fazer”, the second one was  “the all time goodie mökö” called Fazermint. Then comes the “Brunbergs chokoboll” and the last in the row is the “Dumle-karkki”. All of them were really good to my mouth, didn’t complain or anything! It was a trevlig evening with the city, Tage kiittää!

And the small-talk-topic of today is that my Hospital movie is now around 80% finnished, cool!

I have been assigned some days ago to act as the photographer for an intro sequence to a new entertainment program scheduled for January called Make-Up. The intro will be cut and chopped by someone else in Stockholm, but I get to be the photographer, mish-mashing stills with moving pics all focused on urban environment. So, during the coming days I will be circulating the city center of Helsinki capturing footage for the intro.

I have scheduled myself to shooting material for three nights in a row in Helsinki. Tonight was my first evening with the city, and I tell you – it was quite alarming from time to time when the clock turned late. Me, goofing around with the equipment among addicts and crackheads, haha.. But seriously, I didn’t feel that safe anymore when the clock struck 23.00, carrying all that equipment.. But I’ll get by, probably, or should one say, hopefully.

On this very evening I spent 8GB on footage, and tomorrow I definitely need to buy myself some more memory cards to get by three days of shooting trams, people and half-ass mountain boys? Anyone? No? Well, have you even seen Predator? No, ok..
