( The Cajunga – Dancing with the Boys )

It’s late, it’s Sunday, it’s.. Well it’s something. I just browsed through the new Cajunga album “Dancing with the boys” for the 9th time.. And then I thought, hell, I might as well write a small piece on the album.. If not for myself arranging my thoughts on the record, but for the boys in the group and for their fans.. Although I highly doubt that their fans are gonna read this, but you never know…

And before I begin I might as well tell you again, that me and Ramedus will soon be doing another music video for these boys, the first video was for the single called “Let me keep my heart”. The new video is being done to the second single of which I know nothing at the moment… Well – let’s start the review now, why don’t we..?

After a few rounds through this record I start to hear the cool differences between the songs. The record sure holds a lot of good and different qualities, quite a wide variety of rock n’ roll – I like it. Of course I don’t like every song, but most of them are good songs, and some of them are really awesome tunes. And I don’t think I’ve experienced a record with simply masterpieces in a long time, not even “best of”-records.. The one getting the closest to a perfect record has gotta be the first disc from Sonata Arctica called Eclpiptica, anyway..

“Dancing with the boys” holds a total of 12 tracks produced by Brian Fitzpatrick and The Cajunga in the Suomen Turku. My definite favorite track on the disc is “The City is Sleeping”. It’s an awesome song with some cool tango influences and great lyrics I might add. Somehow I can relate to this track more than any of the other hits. Especially to the chorus, not so much to the love story involved, but just listen to this..

“Tonight, the city is sleeping, I’ve got things to do, I’ll just stay up working the whole night through”

Right on the money, the simplicity, the core of the chorus, the everything. The song is just awesome, it’s a keeper! And other hits that I find very amusing is the title track “Dancing with the boys”. It has a lead melody that is very hard to forget and a very powerful chorus. That song would make a great second single..

And the first single “Let me keep my heart”, it’s kinda hard for me to give you any words on this piece of music. I’ve heard it like more times than I’ve heard Eminem’s “Cleaning out my closet”, so it’s really hard to say anything creative about it.. It’s a good song and it worked perfectly for a first video!

After I went through the whole shebang quite I few times I got many ideas of what The Cajunga sounds like, so here is a small list that needs your consideration. If you like any of the following artists I bet you’ll find The Cajunga interesting.

1. Guns n’ Roses 2. Blink 182 3. Jari Sillanpää 4. Oasis 5. Nutmeg 6. John Mayer 7. Arctic Monkeys 8. Gyllene Tider

And what the hell was that? Well, it was a list of artists I thought of when I listened to The Cajunga for the ninth time. Hopefully some of the bands was just about right… And what more should be said? Well, Oskar Nyman, the fronter of the show has got an awesome rock voice that should be one for the books. Really love his voice, I get a certain Billy Joe – Bonnie Tyler – Axl Rose – Gerard Way – kinda vibe..

Anyway folks, the record is a keeper with many great tracks and you should definitely think about ordering a copy for yourselves, I know that Massive Attack and Vuokko Hovatta recently released some new shit, but fuck that, buy The Cajunga instead, it’s way cooler! Get it from the following links!

Well, now, we have finished the editing of the new music video, happy megalomaniac super time! Now it’s just about 20 hours of rendering effects and then the video will air on YouTube on Tuesday, the music video we have done is for the band The Cajunga to their song called Let me Keep my Heart..

When we glanced through the final product this evening, after seeing the video about 900 times, I still thought it looked cool, it’s a small step for music video makers, but a giant leap for mankind, or was it my kind.. Or hang on – what I’m trying to say is, that I’ve learned a lot of new stuff through this process and I’m really happy with the result. The premier is held at YouTube sometime during this upcoming Tuesday, don’t now why or when, or yes, why I know, but when is a bit blurry – like an ostrich’s vision of it’s glory hole.

Well then, guess what we got for doing the video, as a token of their appreciation, or am I bullshitting my reader in the face? Check out the shot and decide if you believe me, haha…

And what more boys, girls and shemales..? Yes. One last pic. This one is from the Ramedus house of arts when we were finishing up the dirty work.. The Tage is really excited to hearing some rice and roses ( I don’t think that expression works in English ) and opinions on the new video..

//Tage – Owner of a Hummer?

Yesterday was all about everything, I even graduated from school! Whoo-pieee! And right after that we made a music video for The Cajunga, and now it’s resting time and Christmazy-shopping-time for 4 days. But let me tell you a story about the video shoot first…

Yes. Me and Ramedus (The media mogul Rasmus Tåg’s company) carefully drew out the plans for this video about a week ago, and yesterday everything was pull through (pull – pulled – pulley – finger pull? ). The video is for the band called the Cajunga and the song goes by the name of “Let me keep my heart”. The video should be ready, alive and even kickin’ for everyone by the 5th of January, and at that very day, the song will be released as a single from their debut album “Dancing with the boys”, quite a coincidence, at the same day, noo, sure not.

We shot the thing here in Helsinki with my Canon 5D Mark Tage, the first time we put the thing to a real test, and I’ll tell you, it looked awesome. And luckily we had a gaffer with us on the set, The Anders “depth of…” Lönnfeldt. Both the Rammer and the T-Man are very grateful of the work he put in for the video, thanks Lönnis!

The picture above displays Maria Yliaho, she had an important part in the story, and she managed to flourish some splendid expressions to our soon-to-be viewers – on behalf of our team and the band, we send out big thank you’s to both Maria and Samuel Klinkmann who both gave us some great “extras”-efforts.

Even more salutes goes out to our make-up girl Pia Lehto who did a fantabulous job with making the band look like rockers. Thanks Pia. So, what else should I tell you guys..? Ahh, I’m thinking really hard.. Wait for it.. Yes, of course. But at first I’ll smash another pic in your face.

After the video shoot made it to the wrap stage we had a small-time wrap party over at a fine restaurant getting some nice burgers – thank you lord for the hamburger. As a nifty input I realize that I haven’t told you that the song to the video is rocking great, just so you know. And yes, after the wrap party we had an after-wrap party at the Ramedus office together with our beloved gaffer Anttu Lönnis.. By the way, gaffer is the one in charge of the lighting during a shoot, see, you learn stuff in this blog – that was really cheap.

So, during the “after-the-wrap party-party” at the Rammer’s place we scoped through the takes of this fine day, and what can I tell you, it will without a doubt be the best video I’ve ever worked on or with,of which there are like 2 others , but seriously, the takes looked awesome. The Rammer even started doin’ some color corrections and the shots really looked expensive, and hey, that’s a good thing for some half-ass mountain boys from Österbotten. It’ll be really interesting to start editing the video next week.

I think my story ends here. Nothing left to tell, nothing left to polish Santa’s penis with, nothing left to say.. Hey, that sounded like some awful lyrics for a hip song.
