I got up quite early, I had lots of shooting to do this sunny funny Thursday in Wasa City.. So, at first I dragged my ass down to Media City to frame some media students.. I’m currently acting as one of the photographers for the only film magazine in Finland written in Swedish.. Filmjournalen.We are doin’ an article on the “finlandssvenska filmskolor”, so I’m travellin’ around in different schools taking all kinds of media school shots of hard working media students.. The one below is taken at Åbo Akademi Media City today..

The clock strikes midday, and what happens.. Oh yes, forgot, more of those media school shots later on during next week when I’ll visit Jakobstad.. Are you perhaps attending  a media school in Finland? Why not give me a ring..? And I’ll come grab your face..

Anyway. The clock stroke midday? Can you say that..? The clock stroke? What ever.. You get the point right? The goddam clock turned it’s arms on midday. I felt a striking hunger in my belly and I didn’t wanna dine alone, so I called up the great Magnum Bayer, the former bassist of Gung-Ho!

T: “Hej, ja e hungri lite perkele”

M: “Vann jedu?”

T: “Stan, kom o ät”

..And all of the sudden there was a great rocker in front of my face and lens, check him out people..!

We went to grab a bite. And what kind of luxurious dinner was served to these gentlemen this fine afternoon, well, I guess you guessed it already.. Euron juusto. Oh you didn’t know.. Nice one!

And then, but actually before any of the happenings mentioned above occurred, I went by the camera store and bought myself some new gear. Yes, you read it right, some new gear! The item of choice is portrayed in the frame below..

Yes, I bought myself a battery grip, finally, I think this is my third one, cause any of the old ones won’t fit the new camera.. Ah, you know how it is, you can’t drive a BMW with wooden wheels.. And of course, I got myself another battery as well.. It’s all for the good! All of this will come in very handy in a couple of weeks when we are shooting the next music video for The Cajunga!

And yes, the rest of the day was quite routineish.. Food, a bunch of e-mails, an ash cloud over Europe and some lemonade. The basics. So hope you liked my journal, maybe I should do some more journals, it was quite pleasing. Have a great night now folks! Now for some Swenglish, no one will get it-humor..

Very much yes this day! I got myself a new lens! It was the great Simon J Nyqvist from Vörå who sold it to me, and I was ans still is very thankful and happy for his right-doings.. The new one is a Canon EF 85mm 1.8 USM and it’s just fucking awesome! Thanks Simon for this one!

Simon is the drummer from Gung-Ho! and the bassist from Graveyard Massacre, but also a cool n’ hip photographer, a great dude with a hefty sense of humour! He is really loud also.. Haha! Have a peek at his DeviantArt if you like..

I can’t really blog about anything else today, nor put up any new shots since the clock has ticked a little too much and I’m heading back to Helsinki very fucking early in the morning. But more news tomorrow from anything and nothing!

//Tage – The 85er!

It has been almost 2 years since I started making my documentary about the great rock band Gung-Ho! from Karperö in Korsholm, tonight it will air for the first time on TV. This will happen at the following channel – YLE FST5 klo 22.30. The program is called Raakadokkari 2009 and it will go on for about 30 minutes. The documentary is 22 minutes long and the rest of the show is built up with an interview together with myself and the bassist Magnum Bayer.

Now these are fabulous news, but that isin’t all my friends. This afternoon the word spread that there was a picture of me and Magnum is Helsingin Sanomat (Finland’s biggest newspaper), hooray! So I went to buy the paper, and there it was! Haha! Me and Magnum in “Hesari”. Now these news were so cool that I had to take a picture of the me and the newspaper… Check it out!

These things made me very happy and I sure am very very excited tonight, hope someone other than me is watching the documentary, at least there will be 1 or 2 viewers, and that makes me happy! It doesn’t matter if someone catches the doc on the telly, know why, because Helsingin Sanomat had a small text about me that said “Ohjaaja Tage Rönnqvist kertoo bändidokumentistaan, klo 22.30″ (The Director Tage Rönnqvist talks about his Rockumentary). They actually referred to me as a director, and they had a pic of me.. Haha! Now I can rest in peace! Why is this cool I hear the pessimist asking.. It just is!

Last but not least I’ll post the films poster, so if you aren’t catching it on the telly, at least you can enjoy the poster. The program will be avaliable on the internet for 7 days after tonight, I’ll post the link to the show in the comment-booth later tonight.. Cheers everyone!

//Tage – Nii varmaan -

This very evening I will be taking promotional shots of the hip n’ cool Helsinki-based rock band called SKIES. We are aiming for a bit different type of promo shots, you’ll see – all in good time son. Hopefully we’ll get the shoot working fine and that everyone is “taggad till 1000″. (Täggd’ to thousand or whatever)

Last december I shot promotional frames for this group, but since then one of the guitarist has quit the band and it’s time for new promos! So wish me luck tonight. Unfortunately I think I need a tripod for the shoot and I don’t possess one, think I’ll swing by Anttila to pick up one of those cheap-ass crappy tripods, what can you do – I’m only a guy
