I have finally developed another film roll from my old 70′s camera called Yashica FX-D Quartz! The roll was an Ilford 400 ASA Black & White, the Mercedes of film rolls.

This afternoon was an exciting one, I went to pick up the shots I took last Saturday when I went on a stroll with Sara and her dog Ellen. All the shots in this post is a “best of” collection from the developed black & white film roll I got today. The roll held a total of 31 shots and over here I’ll give you the eight best shots..

What bugs me the most with shooting with a very old camera, and the whole old school shooting thing is the very expensiveness of it all.. For this set of frames I had to flush away 30 euros.. Think of that for a second, you could get like 4 mid-price CD’s for the same amount of money.. The roll was 10 euros and the development of the thing was 20 euros. So your naturally kinda pissed off if there are any unsharp or  jammed up shots when you get your first look at the pictures..

But the joy one feels going through all the shots is priceless. To be a photographer in the 70′s had to be awesome, nowadays you fire away around 2000 shots at a live show, and back in the day you got like 20 on a good day. I will definitely keep shooting old school shots as long as I can afford it..

This was a perfect day for the 35mm Camera. The sky was blue, the sun was shining, the wind did not exist and there was snow all over the place. Even Ellen seemed to like the fact that I brought the Old Schooler along instead of some new shit with 200 CCD’s and 4000 Mega pixels, she seemed to say..

I think this was my fifth time shooting analog pictures. I have shot about 8 rolls of oldies but only a nice 60% of them have made it through the developers office. Two of my previous rolls I totally trashed when me and the camera had different ideas on how to remove the roll from the camera, and one of my rolls made it through an epic fail at the store..

Luckily none of these rolls were filled with shots of Michael Jackson eating porridge with Miley Cyrus – it was mostly test shooting stuff from around my house and other types of nonsense, but naturally I’ve been quite pissed off more than once with this camera…

I only have two more shots to post, and I’m all out of stories for today.. Hopefully you enjoyed some of the shots, and after all, this blog post cost me 30 euros, 5kg’s of energy and several hours of developing, scanning and shooting stuff..

It is probably the most expensive blog post in my entire career! So be sure to go through the shots twice .. And here you go, the last shots of today! And yes, I have even noticed that these shots all together were more expensive than the entire camera.. That’s nice!

All of these shots were scanned with an Epson Stylus 8400, I think, from the hard copies of the developed pictures I got from the photo store. So, now you know.. Have a great day people, go shoot some old school shit!

// Tage – The stroller

Today was a big day for my education and for my running to become America’s next top model. No wait. Yes hold on. It was a fun day for me. I got up before the sun on Finland’s independence day to go and take  some promotional pics of the very awesome group called So Long Sisters.

We had hired a place in Vaskiluoto Vaasa, in an old shutdown sugar factory. I’ve been there before a few times with the Sturm und Drang boys, so I knew what I was getting myself into. In this shit hole we were going to take this years best promos, and maybe we did, I don’t know since I haven’t started working on the pics yet, but at least they will be cool sugary lookin’. Hopefully they will please the band, then I’m satisfied.

This fine morning I had two assistants there to help me with the shoot, that sounds nice yes? Actually it was the bands’ both drivers, a couple of fathers, not gay fathers, but fathers to different members of the band from different families, do I need to explain myself more? Yes. Oh c’mon.

One of the guys is called Görtzi Dahlgren, he is the faazha of two of the girls in the band, the other one is called Jouni, and he is also the father of two of the other girls, of which there are five. So one of the girls left her father at home, or was it the father of the last girl who left out his daughter for my photography? Did you get it this time? No – still not going through. I won’t say it again. Jesus.

So both Göran Dahlgren and Jouni Alavilamo helped me out with the shoot, the brought all kinds of real worker-dude lights, those 5€ lamps from Claes Ohlsson, and if you posses a gigantic amount of those, you can’t fail in life, and that’s just the truth. We only had 3 hours to get everything fixed so I’m really thankful for the dadz assisting me in the shoot! Thanks Karijoki!

Hopefully I’ll be ready with the editing in a few days and I’ll be able to post the shots in another one of these blog inserts in a couple of days. That’ll be something to look forward to, but who am I kiddin’, ah shit. At least I look forward to see the result of today, ok!

Well then, what did the master of disaster do the rest of this spectacular Sunday of a bitch. I traveled to Vanha Vaasa to take some quickies of a puppy dog (some 9 months old) called Ellen. Not gonna speak much about this shoot, but I’ll höja mitt varningens finger to all you dog photographers in the amateur class such as myself. The dogs aren’t as easy as cats to take shots of, at least not Ellen. She couldn’t keep still for 2 seconds. I tried talking to her, but nooo, she just wanted to goof around even more. Here is an example..

So, why do I take so much pics of cats, dogs and dvd-covers? I don’t know – you’ll have to ask someone else ok. I think this was it for me this Sunday night. I’ll head back to Helsinki tomorrow, and hopefully there is a lot of dudes and gals wanting pics over there, during the coming weeks. One can always hope. Otherwise you 7 people who read this crap will have to look at pics of my yard, pics of some snow or pics of hairy asses. Pray for clients.
