A very handsome moment is going down tonight when the Tage enters Dante’s Highlight at around 20.00 to check out two awesome rock acts called Collarbone and Phoenix Effect! Been looking forward to this evening for hours already. It’s now my first time in many weeks shooting rock shows again, I’ve been walking the brochure shooting alley for a long time now, but this is all gonna change tonight!

I’ll most definitely post you guys loads of rock shots as soon as they’ve gone through the editing machine after tonight. Would be awesome if you could join me tonight, I promise you it’s gonna be one hell of a rock’y night! Cheerios!

// Tage – The CollarEffect ShowShooter

It has been a few weeks since I last entered a rock hall with the 5D Mark Tage cause of a lotta reasons, sadly enough one man can’t find time to do everything at once, but now it’s finally happening again – lookin’ forward to this night as hell.

This upcoming Thursday on the 14th of October I’ll be pointing my fangs towards Dante’s Highlight in Helsinki where I will be smashing off shots to the fabulous tones of Phoenix Effect and Collarbone.

These are two fabulous Finnish rock acts, both of them have released records and toured around a lot, so it’s gonna be two great shows, of that I am sure. It gets better, this particular night is the very night when Phoenix Effect are releasing their second album – record release party, nice!

I have seen neither of these guys perform earlier, which makes this thing even more interesting. So, if you don’t have anything better to do than to videotape yourself pulling horny cucumbers along brick roads this Thursday, well then, do show up, do come and check out these guys – I promise you rock!

Lately I have even bought myself some new equipment (lenses and filters), and those guys haven’t yet experienced the rock lights, so it’s gonna be a blast for sure. To put new lenses into rocking tests is kinda why I live, it’s why I breath. So, without any further ado – wish me grand luck – and start expecting brand new live frames!

Time for another concert pic presentation, and this time we will dive into the Amarantine show held at Dante’s Highlight in Helsinki on the 4th of March 2010. Say no more my good me, let’s fire away the showreel.

Amarantine is a Helsinki-based death metal/black metal/goth metal gathering consisted of a bunch of great performers. This was the first time I saw these guys on stage, and they were really good, you should definitely go see these boys if you ever get the chance…

If you wanna know more of this group you should check out their myspace, where you obviously will be able to listen to their music and swing along, but remember to swoosh your heavy head in front of the screen – now that sounded really cheezy!

Unfortunately I didn’t really get the time to chit chat with these boys, nor did I get anything recorded for a video blog so you’ll have to imagine yourself down that road, perhaps If I see them again sometime I’ll try to get me some face to face impressions and let you know more of these guys. But they sure looked cool on stage and gave us a great show with a rock n’ roll edge of high class!

And all of the sudden she started to sing “Amarantine, Amarantine, Amarantine”. This really freaked me out, and I’m still freaked out over it.. But I guess these are the thing that keeps you going – not only Battery right?

This band was touring with Scar Symmetry when I met them in Helsinki. They pulled off a great show with a pack of fine tunes and loads of energy. The show was held at Dante’s Highlight in Helsinki about two weeks ago. I met the guys after the show and they seemed like a cool gang of musicians from Stockholm, Sweden.

They will return to Dante’s Highlight for another show in May 2010, so you should definitely get you shit together and go cheer for these guys. Hopefully you’ll like the showreel from my evening with Bibleblack.

I will also share with you guys some info about the band – this is for you lazy ass guys who don’t have the strength to google around. Bibleblack is a very new Swedish band featuring members from King Diamond and Memory Garden.

Their first video “Bleed” is directed by Owe Lingvall, a dude who has directed loads of music videos, for instance the latest videos of Sturm und Drang, some Amorphis stuff and even videos for Tracedawn, Ari Koivunen and Nordman.. So, now you know! And you should definitely check out the latest Bibleblack video…

What should I say about the show then, well.. I think one word sums it up – astonishing! The guys did a truly amazing job up there, and the audience seemed to enjoy every second of it. The raw power of metal/hard rock/cool rock and screaming faces was all over the place. Awesome, amazingly awesome work by the boys in Scar Symmetry. And I even got to meet the guys after the show, and they where very nice guys. Hopefully I’ll get to see them rock in Finland several times again, or perhaps I’ll get my ass to Sweden to see some more of these true rocking souls!

And yes, if you are not familiar with the band, then you should definitely look into the guys’ latest record called Dark Matter Dimensions released some months ago – it’s a great record and it would fit perfectly into your CD collection, that’s a promise from Tage. You can also find the record on Spotify if you are lazy, the least you can do is to listen to it for free over there.. I bet Jonathan from Spotify won’t mind…

I checked out the Ramedus page today, and he had solved the problem by doin’ a small gallery for all the shots in an insert when he posted about 20 shots.. Maybe I’ll try that solution next time.. ..Let me tell you the Scar Symmetry & Bibleblack story boys and girls. This blog/vlog post is a small teaser from last night’s gig held at Dante’s Highlight in Helsinki. The bands performing this particular night were Scar Symmetry, BibleBlack and Blackstar Halo. Unfortunately I got to the place too late to witness the Blackstar Halo gig so there will be no pics whatsoever of those guys… Sorry. But I’m still wondering how in the world I ended up shooting this gig, I’ll tell you in a bit, but first I’ll give you a small video clip from the show! Gotta love this video blogging stuff!

Right.. The background then. I haven’t been listening to Scar Symmetry since only a few days ago when I noticed that they were coming to Helsinki to rock my socks off. I checked em’ out and I instantly fell in love with their music, so I decided that I will try everything in my power to get a photo pass card for this show.. Almost every attempt failed, I couldn’t get a hold of anyone who knew anyone attached to any of the boys performing, but then suddenly my good friend and guitarist Mike from Shear called and told me the following things..

“I think that one of the Scar Symmetry Guitarists named Jonas Kjellgren has a studio of his own in Sweden, and they have a web page, maybe you’ll find some phone numbers from there”..

So I googled around and found the cellphone number to Jonas Kjellgren and I instantly called him up, and this was about 4-5 hours before the show.. He answered, and after a quick chit-chat I got my name on the list and I was in.. Awesome!

Let us all now have a peek at what Lars Palmqvist, one of the vocalists from Scar Symmetry had to say after the show…

I thought that the BibleBlack show was so awesomely cool so I even bought their t-shirt. That is something I usually do at Iron Maiden gigs, so the bible boys really had a certain impact on me. And they were also a really nice gang of dudes with great attitudes. And of course I’ll give you a teaser of the shots from their show also, enjoy mothertruckers!

I got some fabulous news just minutes ago, tonight I’m going to Dante’s Highlight in Helsinki to shoot the Scar Symmetry show. A very awesome Swedish metal act.. //Tage – The Scar Symmetry Shooter

Last week I hung around at Dante’s Highlight with the cam at a rocking metal show.. The bands performing were Shear and Amarantine. In this bloggy insert I’ll give you all the “good” shots from the Shear gig, later on I’ll post all the Amarantine shots…

Most of the shots in this small collection are live frames, but at the bottom you’ll also find some shots taken before the show at the Shear backstage camp. And I should probably mention that this was the first live show Shear ever have pulled off, and let me tell you – they were really good and I hope to see them again and again… And not only I loved the show, the audience seemed to really like what they witnessed. They were really rocking and looking good. They boys are awesome musicians and Alexa has a fantabulous voice. The songs are just incredible and you should definitely try out some of their tunes, found on their myspace.

Shear is a Helsinki-based progressive metal band consisted of six souls. Those are the one’s of Mike, Eerik, Lauri, Lari, Juffi and Alexa.. I’ve worked with the band earlier last fall when I shot their promotional shots. And what more.. I’ll say no more, I’ll let the shots do the talking, cliché people. I hope you’ll enjoy some of these shots and I really hope that I get to frame these boys and girl more than once.. Just got home from today’s double gig at Dante’s Highlight in Helsinki. I saw two fabulous acts tonight, Shear and Amarantine. I decided to establish a second Vlog, so now you can listen to the Synth-dude of Shear explaining stuff, this very very short story is filmed about 15 minutes before the show, and this was the very first gig by Shear.. //Tage – The Dante’s Highlight lover

Tomorrow is a big day for Tage, he is returning to the stages with his camera. Yes it is true. It has been some time since I last took some live frames. But tomorrow I’ll continue my live shootings, and I bet it’ll be awesome!

The show to which I’m going is being held at Dante’s Highlight in Helsinki. I have never been to Dante’s so it will be an interesting journey.. I don’t know nothing about their lighting situation and how the overall photo situation will be..  But if you check out their web site it kinda looks promising..

The bands performing tomorrow are Amarantine and Shear. The latter ones have some great tunes and I have even worked with them before, promotional shooting, but I have never seen them gig.. So it will be a very interesting night for me.. Amarantine is a totally new act for me, I’ve tried out some of their songs at their myspace, but my experience of them ends there.. Their music sounds cool and it’ll be great for me to frame some new dudes.

And hey, everyone in Helsinki who reads this, it is a free entrance night. So please join the show, pull my sleeve and I’ll snap some rock shots of you in the audience Whatever.
