( Out with the sound walls )

Well.. This very event occured this very evening when I decided to go help out my fellow mates in Sturm und Drang with some cleaning duties.. They were going to have “a big cleaning day” at their band camp.. Everything out in the yard – biggy time clean – everything carried inside again… The general plan right.

But not everything went according to plan.. This is the story of a somewhat epic failure inside the world of cleaning men without guitars and picks..

At first everything went quite ok, except for loads of stuff.. The Sturm und Drang cleaning session had at this point of the evening already been in the works a matter of hours and nothing had really happened.. Why? Cause the brooms and the band got off to a bad start when our beloved André Linman arrived about 4 hours late..

But hey, that’s ok.. So the boys grabbed the bull by it’s penis and everything begun like nothing has ever begun before – the average feeling was awesome, let’s clean this motherfucker! (They seemed to say..)

I should probably mention that the Sturm und Drang training site is a rather big place, and it’s filled with loads and loads of gear, wires, racks, packs and grey dildos. So it’s not exactly a one-man-job to take out all this trash for a big clean up..

And yes, as the cleaning sessions went along there were suddenly loads of stuff that the average man would call “trash” in front of us in large black plastic bags.. And how to deal with trash in bags..?

You should definitely take notes on this one.. I’m not gonna mention any names or places, I’ll let the pics do the talking…

Yes. Now that we’ve gone through that part I can continue the novel..

As we got back from our secret trash dumping adventure I saw things with my own eyes that shouldn’t be witnessed by anyone or anything.. The “Dynghåle” was suddenly revealed before me.. “Dynghåle” may not be found on the Google translator, but it roughly means, “The shit hole”.. Yes. Check it out..

Yes. When most of the stuff was carried out from the training site the “Dynghåle” was revealed.. Well placed under everything..

I starred into the hole for a while, and I think I saw Osama Bin Laden giving me a big fuck you, so I closed the door and I sure think that the “dynghåle” will never be shown to this world again, so be sure to glance at the shot until you can smell it.. Stare while you can, cause this is fucking exclusive shit!

I think we released a grudge of some kind when we opened the port of the “dynghåle”, cause from this moment on, things started to go wrong..

Yes. It all started when Calle went bananas with the vacuum cleaner and pulled off a Harry fucking Potter on everyone.. Where is the quidditch ball motherfuckers? Yes. After his banana race with the vacuum cleaner it stopped working. Bummer.. And then Jeppe got an SMS from God..

Yes, wanna know what it said? “Hey motherfuckers, taste my penis juice!”.. And then came the raaaaaaaain! (Not intended Iron Maiden lyrics rip-off)..

Yes. It started to rain. And all the gear was still out in the yard. And as I said, there was not only one guitar.. No no. Hurry the fuck up boys.. Get all the stuff inside.. And at this point, all of the cleaning that this training site had seen was Calle’s Harry Potter spoofs! Go figure!

Jeppe tried to save all the gear from our mighty God’s ejaculation.. Just look at the man, look at his arms, they’re working like no man has worked before.. Look at the man I say! This is dedication!

But yes.. Alex thought that he’d stop the rain and get all the gear carried inside again simply by boozing away the problems.. And it worked!

After a zip of wine Alex noticed that the booze is not helping him to get the guitars away from the rain after all.. So he grabbed a pair of heavy metal gloves and got to it! Work..!

But, hey.. André suddenly got a very nice idea.. “We must show people that we like to carry our gear in the rain, smile pretty for the camera assholes, come on, gather around Calle, Alex, grab something so that it looks like your working your ass off!”.. And this is the result…

And everything went according to plan.. Except for the fact that we got nothing cleaned, not a single step forward in the cleaning process.. I’d say that the place looked nicer when we got there 5 hours earlier!

Dunno what that was all about, but yes.. I’m back with my first video blog in like several weeks. I’ve forgotten all about it and all of the sudden it came to my mind this very Tuesday when my epic Sturm und Drang film got some more flesh on it’s bones. Yes,together with  Jeppe and Alex we headed to the mini golf court in Wasa called Botnia Minigolf Klubb to shoot some good times.

Yes, where was I, well yes, but of course. We went golfing a few holes. It was fun and I think the documentary got some cool summer event shots – well needed. And as promised, my v-log is back! Check out Mr. Ivars bragging about his golf win after a round of serious Tiger Woodsy manners..

The video clip is probably the shortest clip on the entire youtube, but what can you do? Complain? Want longer clips? Maybe next time alright.. I tried getting the man to talk about his feelings after the win, his thoughts on the game, what he thinks about the globalization, ash clouds and animal porn. But nothing. Today was my first day out in the documentary fields, nice to be back! Today it all started again, today, today. Well, today I grabbed the bull by the testicles and went out to start shooting the Sturm und Drang boys again..

The first (of many) documentary day/s held a bunch of fine moments in store for me and the video camera. I went with Jeppe to collect some nice “summer feel” footage at the shoreline of Wasa city.. Nothing particular happened, nothing spectacular got stuck on tape, but we got loads of footage of the first summer days of 2010. I think this sort of stuff will be well needed in the film. Random stuff with random comments filled with random environments…

And then, all of the sudden, we got a call from André Linman, the fronter of the act, telling Jeppe that they were going to rehearse some songs this fine evening. Quick as I was, I decided to go with the documentary flow and hang around for the rest of the evening with the rolling camera… I got some really nice footage at the Sturm und Drang band camp – and that makes a Tage happy! Hours well spent..

Yes, at the band camp the boys were going through some new tunes for the upcoming third record, it sounds really good, I’m glad to be a “part of the process” in at least a documentary type of way.

The rest of the evening was all about collecting great footage for me… And looking at Alex finger pulling my camera, is it called finger pulling? Tractor pulling? He was all over my video machine with his dirty fingers, changing all the set up’s for all kinds of reasons I guess..

Short story, while I was out in the backyard filming André having a “creative song writing moment in the sun” weird stuff happened. Alex and his crew stole my car keys and drove my car to a secret hide out. So when I was done filming André, I noticed that I had no car, it was gone like a prostitute in church, the boys were laughing like hell – fuckers.

Anything else to declare.. Well, the evening ended with the very first summer ice cream moment close to the archipelago. Sweet Jesus. One can’t wish fo a better start to the summer of 2010..

..So where should one begin? I got lots of words to spread out to your eager minds. Yesterday after I posted the André Linman shots I immediately got a call from Alex Ivars. (När ska vi fan ta bilder på mig va?).. English translation (Cindy says that the bus is leaving early). I told the dude that I was up for the job anytime, and we decided to take some shots today, which right about now has turned yesterday. So technically André’s shots were taken the same day..? Oh my God I’ve gone crossed eyed.

Anyway. I had to come up with something new for the Alex shoot, and the answer to my question was Vlogging. I asked Alex if he could say something in moving pictures about today’s shoot. Although the man wasn’t feeling that marvelous, since the André 18 party was yesterday, he managed to give me a small performance. So here ya go, the first Vlog ever by Tage.. Enjoy.

..Yes, the story on how we got to take the shots at the City Hall.. (Stasshuuse) The orignal idea was to take the shots in the Church spotted behind Alex in the shot above. The Trefaldighetskyrkan of Waasa. It is a very aesthetic church, so I called up the dude who handles all the stuff about the J-man. After a call that lasted about 20 minutes he eventually said NO. The church didn’t allow us any metal shots. I wonder why? The dude who handles the church said that his children often listens to Sturm und Drang, but he would still not approve of any Alex shots.. Follow me to the next shot..

..It was eventually the church dude who gave me the tip to call the city hall.. When I called the dude over at the City Hall with my mysterious questions about shooting some blog-shots of a rocker he responded with a simple “Kyllähän se käy”.. English translation (Tom told Lisa to shut her face – Carrots!).

I had never been in the building before, and let me tell you. I will for sure use the building again some time, for something media related. And all the time I hear you asking why I took these shots today.. Well, no reason I guess. I’m just a man. If you want your own “no reason pics”, just give me a call..

The fans, gotta love the fans.. Sturm und Drang has a song called “The River Runs Dry”, and you gotta give a big hand to the fans for coming up with something as innovative as this – Love it! A really really Finnish joke.. Awesome. Sturm und Drang – You need to know that you have the best fans in the world..

The facts about this show is summed up in many ways.. This was a show where my main focus was  to gather material for the documentary about the band. So I was with the boys in the band for many hours before the show, and even many hours after the show, so hopefully you’ll find some of the “not-live” shots interesting, cause they really are somewhat unique, no matter how stupid it sounds, I was the only one with a camera backstage so what you’ll see is really, and I’ll say it again, unique.. Maybe I should tag the word.. ( Tage is tagging Unique ).. And I’m back..

And since the fans get to be so hilariously funny with their wordplay board “The Liver Runs Dry” I get to wordplay a little don’t you think.. This shot above – I call it These Chains – which is another SuD song… Although I’m not half as funny.. I’m such an ass – but then again, whaddaya gonna do?

And to your right you can witness Alex Ivars, the guitar virtuoso of Sturm und Drang, having one of those killer sticks in front of the tour bus.. To the far right of this shot you could see the drummer of Backyard Babies,but I cropped him out to give Alex the light he needs.. Haha.. It’s actually true. And what more should I tell you about this gig, I still have many shots to publish, and I need horseshit to write about.. What do I remember from this day? Nothing comes to mind at the moment, so I’ll keep blabbering about nothing until I reach the bottom of this pic, and then I’ll post another one right away and hopefully I’ll have some memories to share from that picture instead of this one.. Hmmm, reaching it now, reaching the end, hopefully, and since wordpress is a basterd of a layout program I won’t even know when I’ve reached the end, I guess it’s right about now, finally!

I’m really happy I got to try out some of these FishEye shots.. Since I was the only one who got to be in front of the audience border for the whole show I got some peace and relaxing moments to try out my FishEye lens from the right angle.. I don’t really know if I got what I wanted, but at least I got to practice a little with the lens.. And practice will some day make perfect, I fucking hope.. And mind you, all of these shots are taken with my Canon EOS 40D (which is for sale), this was all before I invested in my 5D Mark Tage.

To the left you see André Linman thanking the lovely audience for a spectacular show.. And this is something I remember now guys.. After the show André always asks everyone what they thought of the show.. And this time he was in flames and fumes, he was really really happy with the show, he shouted out “Dehe va satan den bästa spelningen vi nånsin gjort, VITTU”, and I’ll fast translate this one into German with google translator, just to be different.. “Dies war Satan, der beste Gig, den wir je gemacht haben, Vittu”…

Hopefully the german speaking readers, of which there are none, can agree with my translation, and one can only hope right…

And yes, the gig was really good, this was the first time ever they covered The Darkness – I believe in a thing called love, I think.. Maybe.. Anyway – the gig was powerful and André’s singing was really good, heck, all of the boys did great.. Although Alex’s responce to André’s happy chants after the gig was a laid back “Yes”..

The shot above has got to be one of my favourites of all time shooting Sturm und Drang – I love André’s face and pose – it’s, in my opinion, one of the most “live” pics I’ve taken.. And since my opinion is the only thing that counts – I’m right.. Haha.. All in all, I like this shot! What? Ahh, shut up.

So, right, this Godforsaken piece of shit for a program called Wordpress just crashed down.. Aw, for fuck sake.. But then I got a little bit lucky with the auto save function, if it wasn’t for that function this post would never have seen the light of today.. God I hate this shit..

Well then.. To your left, or if you are behind your screen, it will be to your right, enough said.. The pic of André is taken 1 minute later than the Jeppe pic in the same place and posé.. The light was cool and some of the stage smoke leaked out backstage, so it was a Canon moment.. And it’s kinda cool right, he looks like an MC driver with the wrong t-shirt. It’s been a very very cold fucking day, I tell you, the thermometer was really pissing me in the anus this morning when it told me (it actually spoke) that the temperature outside was about minus 3 000 000 degrees celsius. And it really was, when my nose said hello to the world outside, it dropped down to the ground and blew up like Wesley Snipes in Demolition Man – and this is all true.

So, later today, without a nose, I visited a place called Citymarket and I found myself a “must have” record. I buy quite a lot of CDs in this thing called life, and this very evening I found myself the record called “Genesis – The Hits”, a double CD with all the hits, well, not all of them, but maybe three quarters of them. And I got it for 6 euros. Hooray! So that was the big thing of this day. Before I found out I was pregnant.

And of course I did all kinds of christmazzy stuff and said hello to about 5000 relatives, but I guess no one cares. And I could also let you in on the fact that I’ve gone on Christmas vacation now for about 10-15 days, so the photo editing processes and the taking of new pics is kinda out of the question, for some days now.

But hey, if someone wants some shots during Christmas, and if you live in Waasa, hit me with a call and a banana and we’ll work something out.. And yes of course, I should give the Sturm und Drang boys a Christass (you didn’t notice that I misspelled Christmas) call and perhaps get some new SuD shots.. This wednesday, two days ago, I went to the Sturm und Drang band camp, and that’s where the magic happens, whatever that means. I decided to go take some new shots of the boys, since they aren’t touring for the moment I really need some new hip n’ cool shots of them. I have one set of live shots that haven’t been published yet, but still, I wanted some fresh ones for now. This is the blog cake that shows you what the boys in Sturm und Drang are currently up to.

As you already probably have noticed, their training facility is in tip top shape and you can easily find your pick if you loose it. The shot above is taken at 06.08 pm. The session was to start at 06.00 pm, and as you see, it’s only the wild Alex who is ready to game. Where is the rest of the porukka (Carrot, or was that porkkana?)?

Calle wasn’t feeling very picturesque, or whatever, this particular evening so I will not be publishing any sharp face or bodyshots of the man today, he strictly ordered me to keep his face blurry. And maybe that’s why I should only post pics of Calles lovely sharp face, but I’m feeling kind as hell, so I’ll obey the drummers sayings.

Although Calle wasn’t feeling that picturesque (or whatever the spelling is), he sure played those things as a real pro, he sure knows what to hit at which point in the song. But hey, that’s what drumming is all about. I’m such an ass. But being an ass can be a good thing, you avoid belching – and Calles sticks go fadabadadish! I’m probably one of the funniest guys on the planet.

The practice session went on and on.. And guess what, I even got to witness, or listen to, some new songs.. Yay. Let me tell you, when Sturm und Drang returns with a new record in a undefined near or far future, they will kick some serious rock n’ roll ass. It sounded great! And as Eric Cartman would have said.. “I’ve heard some new SuD-songs, who wants to touch me? I said who wants to fucking to me?” Haha. Eric, that old Eric.

So, what were the boys up to besides playing. Nothing really. The played and gamed for two hours and then I left, but it was a fun evening and I’ll surely return in a near future to get some more hot-shots of the preparations for their third record. I think it should be called Sturm und Drang – Children learning to Roll.. And again.. Calles drumsticks and so forth, oh, you didn’t get that one, me neither.

( Alex Ivars – The serious tester )

The first test of this series, as I already pointed out, will be: Which one is the best Vodka out of our three subjects? We carefully chose three brands of Vodka to put on our table, and the test was on, so I welcome you to the first part of many with Alex Ivars Testing Things.

( Absolut Vodka – Finsbury Vodka – Stolichnaya )

The first one out was the Stolichnaya, the Genuine Russian Vodka. About this one Alex said the following… It tastes very Russian, it has a very Russian aftertaste, it feels very “passlig” (Google it). Then he went to fix his hair, and then he continued the review with the following. This one should definitely be the first shot of the evening, it’s no late drink, or whatever. His tip of the day was to pour it down with a slight touch of lemon. The Stolichnaya has a very cheap taste and it smells of disinfectant. But all in all it has a genuine Vodka taste. Alex grades it with a fragile 2 out of 5.

The second one out was the Finsbury Vodka of England, Alex said the following things of this one. This one possesses a lot more aroma than the Russian, and the smell isin’t that bad. It has a very bitter taste in the first few seconds, not that hard-liqoury-snapsy taste. This one should not be made into a cocktail drink, it should be enjoyed as a standalone vodka. It is the cheapest one of our test subjects but it has a certain expense in the taste. The Finsbury should be poured into you at dawn, say around 9 am or something, works well with breakfast. Alex was a bit more kind with the grading of the English vodka and gave it a stable 3 out of 5.

The third and last one out was the Swedish Vodka called Absolut Vodka. About this one Alex’s wise words were the following. Now this one absolutely smells the best out of today’s three subjects. It is properly done, a genuine vodka! It’s kinda cheap-ass on the aroma part, but therefore it woks great as a mixer, your cocktail will be divine with Absolut. The best drinking time for this one is during the nightclubbin’ hours, around 2 am. And it is also a good vodka to drink as it is, a good buy! My grade will be a steady 4 out of 5.

Thanks a lot everyone for taking some quality time with the guitarist from Sturm und Drang to learn something useful about vodka. We took them pics on a hot summer day in Vaasa, Finland during the past summer. Alex wanted some cool pics that made him look cool, and I thought ok, but before we left I decided that we need a picture that is a bit different, so we took a nudie of him, haha.

When we were finnished we had about 10 different shots and the magazine holders decided which one to put in the catalogue. Unfortunately they didn’t choose the nude shot, that is why I will publish it here, I haven’t published it earlier anywhere, so it’s a real rarity, haha, if you can say that about my Sturm und Drang shots. And I think it sure was a pity that they didn’t choose the nude shot. Enjoy the pics! Don’t really know if Alex approves of this, but hey, I’m only a man.

The last facts – the catalogue is put together for different brands in the music industry and handed out in about any bigger music/instrument store, it is called Into-Luthman Soundability catalogue (Kuvasto syksy 2009 – kevät 2010). I think it comes out every 6 months or something, I don’t fucking know ok.
