STUDIO UND DRANG (PART 1)

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Join me in the very first part of the Sturm und Drang third record sessions photo diary.

This very day I called up André Linman, I humbly asked him if I could join their demo sessions for the upcoming third record. He responded positively, I awarded myself with a quick youghurt and faster than you can spell excited backwards I was on my way to the studio.

( The third record is coming together )

And perhaps you need a small background story to this insert, I hear you screaming, yes please.. And I will respond with a story. Naturally, since you asked..

If I got the deal right, the following is taking place as we speak. Sturm und Drang are recording lots and lots of demos at the moment, they will later this upcoming summer join forces with a hot shot American producer and hit the studio in Finland or Los Angeles, for the making of their third record. So there is quite a lot going on for the boys… And they are also currently looking for a new bassist, maybe my good man Ramedus should apply..?

( Anders Höglund is currently helming the production sticks )

These demo sessions are taking place at the Midas Studios ( www.midasstudios.fi ) in Waasa. The keeper of the house goes by the name of Anders Höglund. A talented cool guy with roots in bands such as Kometfabriken. And yes, he has agreed that the Tage is allowed to be around shooting some more sessions in the studio. So these are certainly not the only pics you will get to see from Midas.. This particular day I captured around 300 shots and I rapidly put together 5 of them for this insert. So you can expect more pics and stories in a not too distant future..

( Patrick Linman – the manager )

The songs then, or should I say demos.. I’ve heard some bits and pieces and let me tell you young Padawans. It sounds awesome, it will be awsome, and it will sure as hell be a hit-packed album from Finlands greatest metal act.. That is a fact – and it rhymes. Awesome. The Tage is an awesome rhymer. Rhymer, sounds really weird. Could be a grunge band from Kentucky. The Rhymers.

( Höglund enjoys the moment )

What more is there for me to tell you this fine day, this fabulous day when Finland has been awarded with two bronze medals in the Olympics. I guess I told you stuff during my pondering yes? Sure not.

I believe that I will hit the Midas studios already next week for some more capturing.. And I will definitely bring my studio flashes again, they really did some cool tricks today, and after all, are they not called studio flashes for a reason? Or am I missing the studio point. Anyway, I’m an ass.

( André in the Midas couch )

And that was it for today, you’ll hear from the Tage again, that’s a promise. Tomorrow I’ll capture some more André Linman stuff, so be sure to tune in again sometime.

Stay tuned – stay informed ( my highly cheesy ending line – it will swipe the world )

  1. This is awesome! This is huge. I can’t wait for the new album, and now I see a part of the making. thankyouthankyouthankyou. And it also feels weird that these shots are ‘in -a-real-time’ terms…yesterday? Not from 7 months ago? And you’re shooting even more…AS WE SPEAK?! (well, obviously, a bit later, since now is 6:55 am) I’m really so excited. If I wasn’t such a girl and got up at 5 am, instead of 6:40, I wouldn’t have to worry about the classes starting at 7 and I would’ve posted these shots to the SuD’s facebook page…but it’s happening!

And also, the last shot? The backround…behind André (see? I can write é! How cool am I?) is really cool. Was it already there, or did you added it?

  2. :) Marvelous! I love the fact that you’re excited over these shots and this “real-time” factor.. They are all shot yesterday and I’ll try to go back to the studio as often as I can..

And the songs, they really sound great, and I believe that the record is gonna be awesome with lots of “awesomness”.. You are truly an early bird :) And yes, if you like and have the strength to post these on the facebook page, please do.. :)

And the background on the last shot.. It is some sort of an audio wall in the studio, I can’t tell you any fact about it since I’m not that educated in audio walls.. You’ll have to google them, although I don’t have a name for them :)

  6. Oi siistiä! Uus levy tulee varmaan olemaan niin hyvä :) Ja hienoja kuvia, ootan innolla että postaat lisää :D

  7. Nice pics dude! The blue acoustic wall behind André is from RPG http://www.rpginc.com/. It’s there to diffuse the sound bouncing back from the rear wall. right……guess that explains everything… =)

  8. JW –>> Kiitokset, lisää kuvia on kyllä tulossa..

Anders –>> Thanks man, and how nice of you to explain the blue wall :)
